Hi, we're having intermittent power loss. I ran vagcom and got this code:
00575 17-10 intake manifold pressure control difference intermittent
Does anyone know if this could be relevant?
It could be the turbo hoses as I had problems witn them being loose before. Had a look under bonnet and thought I could hear a slight hissing. Wiggled all hose connections tight again and haven't had the problem again today yet...
Absolutely, the lack of power is because the car's going into a safe (limp-home) mode designed to prevent damage.
The turbo will generate an amount of boost as dictated by the ECU - the intake manifold sensor (MAP) reads this amount further on down the pipework and obviously the two should match. If not, then that code is logged and the ECU will effectively turn off the turbo leaving you with a very underpowered beastie!
The three most likely causes are indeed a boost leak caused by loose/damaged hoses. The variable arms inside the turbo sticking causing the turbo to produce less/more boost the the ECU has requested and finally a faulty MAP sensor. Given the noise you could hear I would go with the former, it won't take much air leaking to trip the code.
