Hi,
Anyone had problems with the stainless steel pipes splitting that run underneath the rear of the vehicle. My 2010 Galaxy was only two years old when the first pipe failed now it appears that the other has gone. Main dealer refused to cover the cost even though Ford issued a directive regarding this defect .
Anyone know if there is a modified part for this or anywhere that sells it cheaper?
seems a tad strange that the manufacturers know it could be a problem but the dealers are saying TOUGH.
have you taken a look at
www.ford.etis.com
see if there is anything here thats is logged.
you may have to go into preferences and change the settings from united states to uk.
Are you sure they're stainless pipes? Air con pipes normally tend to be aluminium which is light but less strong. Sorry to say I doubt you'll find any cheaper or pattern alternative for things like air con pipes as they're probably too vehicle specific and not big enough sellers to be produced as pattern parts, that's not to say Ford hasn't modified the original design if there was a known issue. As another thought, perhaps a specialist hydraulic hose repairer or air con specialist could repair your existing pipe?
When you say Ford issued a directive, do you mean TSB or special service message or similar?
Hi, thanks for replying.
Not sure what it was called but the dealer stated that the bend on the pipe was a known problem area and that details of how to install a replacement pipe had been issued with specific instructions to limit the chances of the fault occurring again.
