Hi took out my deisel filter for a check looked ok when i put it back together noticed theres no pressure balloon(if thats what you call it) to pressure up the fuel line so cant get the car started has any one had this before,a mate told me to tow it to start it could take a few miles to work there must be an easier way. from what ive read, you have to prefill the filter and also use a priming bulb to get the fuel through and to vent the air bubbles within the filter.
It should self prime, thats what the electric pumps for! Turn the ignition on and wait 5 seconds then off and repeat 10 times. Should fire right up...
I know some of the modern TDCI's can be a bit of a bugger to get started initially after a fuel filter change, I've always tended to use a mityvac to draw the fuel through the filter and minimise any air in the system, I've never had any trouble starting afterwards, maybe just a couple of cranks required.
Finally got it started picked up a priming pump from machine mart Ã,£12.00 put it in the outward side of the filter and sucked the fuel up took a few cranks till it fired up never doing that again8-) Thanks for the help seems to be a common problem with diesels [drive] [drive]
[GJ] you'll know how to do it next time now :)
