Hi Everyone,

The throttle body on my Mk2 V6 is need of cleaning but I can't see an easy way of removing it. Is it necessary to remove the complete inlet manifold in order to draw out the throttle body from under the bulkhead? Any tips or pointers would be greatly appreciated...

Whilst I cannot speak from experience on the V6, if you remove the scuttle panel at the back of the engine bay does this open up any space for you to access the retaining bolts and therefore remove the throttle body from the inlet manifold?

Thanks for the pointer... I removed the bulkhead panel which did give a lot more room to move around... I still couldn't remove the Throttle Body - Top two allen screws and lower front are accessible but the lower rear screw is not... Can't see it, can't feel it and can't seem to access it :(

However, after removing the panel as you suggested, I did then find a split vacuum home which goes to the Brake Servo - This has curred my "Too Lean" Code that kept coming up  :) So I'm happy that I stripped it all out anyway

Oh well, glad you sorted at least one problem out! Was this the reason you wanted to remove the throttle body in the first place for cleaning?!

Yes and know... I did throw a can of Carb Cleaner down the intake which actually made an instant difference to engine responsiveness... Given the difference a Ã,£4.00 can of cleaner made, I just wanted to do it properly as there is nothing like giving it a good scrub with a toothbrush and cleaner - A squirt of cleaner free's it up but still leaves 70% of the crud on the barrel of the TB... I'm going to do a full LPG conversion next month so it can wait till then as I need to completely remove the intake manifold to drill and tap the LPG jets...
