I have an 04 plate registered in 2005 galaxy mk 2 2.3 .  My heater control panel does not work.  Only the heater blower fan switch works,  The ac button, rear heater main switch, air recirculate, blow direction and temperature control buttons do not work.  At the same time as this went faulty my clock also stopped working.
Historically I have always had my Ford cars serviced and repaired at the local dealer. They initially diagnosed a faulty control panel and ordered one in for a hefty Ã,£400.
When installed the problem was still not resolved - the garage took out the new panel and did not charge me - instead they diagnosed a 'couple of dropped earths'.
They wouldn't give me an estimate on fixing any dropped earths because they said they did not know how long it might take.
My question to the forum is: how does one test for this issue?
I regret to say I am a complete novice when it comes to all matters mechanical and electrical but have determined that I must change this (cos I can't afford the professionals any more) so any advice would be greatly appreciated

To be clear, do you know if, when the new control panel was installed, EXACTLY the same faults were present, i.e, the new panel made no difference whatsoever? Were there any stored fault codes in the old unit? (obviously if you entrusted all of this to the garage then you won't know, but can you ask them?) If it is a wiring fault then you'll need wiring diagrams and you'll have to start pulling things out (e.g, the control panel) to start checking the connectors and wiring for damage, and then carry out electrical tests on the various wires to determine if you have open or shorted circuits (I presume the garage already checked for the obvious like blown fuses).

Also, is it the LCD display type climate control panel or the rotary dial type?

Have a check on fuse 32 in the main fuse box also the 3 amp fuse in the battery fuse box.
