Title: Remote central locking
Post by: bhbobhill on April 21, 2014, 02:46:17 AM
Galaxy Mk2 1.9 diesel
Central locking is ok with the key in the lock but will not work from the fob. Have checked the remote sender that is transmitting ok, have gone throuhg the proceedure for re-setting the system but without any joy. Has anybody got any ideas.

When you say you've checked its transmitting, is that because the led comes on or have you coded it to another car? Its no uncommon for the fob pcb to crack which means it wont programm and isnt transmitting however the led will still light up.

Hey Mirez your info always seems to be awsome and it seems my new car is suffering from the same thing, is it easy to get a replacement fob even if you only have one key that isn't working.

Hi Mirex I had this checked out for actually transmitting using the tools from my tv repair days (infrared tool)

Ok, next question then is if this is an original key for the car or one you've just bought (or just bought the car).
A 2002 model should be using the RF key, its only the very early Mk2's (X, Y and some 51's) that use the IR type locking.

@madmanc:
Thanks, yes you can grab a keyfob online from Ebay fairly easily. In theory, they are all the same but match the frequency to be sure. (You'll find it on the side of the existing key) - 433.92Mhz Normally. When it arrives, swap the key-shank pieces over (being carefull not to lose the PATS chip) and then reprogram (Galaxy Remote Programming (https://www.fordmpv.com/smf2/ford-galaxy-reference-library/ford-galaxy-remote-key-locking-programming-and-information-(mk2)/)) - The remote locking is different in that you don't need any already programmed keys unlike if you were doing the immobiliser system.
