I tackled the electrics this weekend, with a Westfalia plug in kit, went in fairly easy, just had to run a wire from the kit to the parking sensor module and dismantle the multiplug to get it in.
My question is.. How do you, or is it even possible to code the dash telltale with vcds lite (free version)?
Thanks in advance
Brian.
Forget what I said, the tell tale is already built in, doubles the dash flash rate when an indicator fails.
That's not an adequate tail-tell I'm afraid and will possibly be an MoT fail under the new regulations - I'm not sure exactly how the new test will check. However as it currently stands you need either a visual or audio warning that sounds with the trailers indicators, not an alert for when they don't - fortunately its easy enough in VCDS:
You need to open the "09 - Central Electrics" controller and get the current coding, it'll probably be coded as 04096 and you need to add 8 to it so basically it becomes 04104, 04096 is the coding for central locking with alarm and remote control - however you should be able to add 8 to any code thats in there to enable the light.
Essentially what we are doing is turning on bit 3 of the binary coding. If your current code is 4096 then it gives, in binary, 1000000000000 (only bit 12 set) and so the new code should be 1000000001000 which, back in decimal, is 4104.
Thanks Mark, changed it and changed the c/l to drivers door only, coding was 4097, now 4104. :)
