Passenger door handle has just broken. Opened up the card and saw that the plastic hook that pulls the door lever forward has snapped. Does this mean a complete new handle? And how easy is this to fit? Many thanks for any tips
Sorry, just saw a post on the subject - I guess I'll need a new paddle
I have the handle out now and see that it's not the paddle I need - that's the bit that turns the lock - I need the plastic hook that pulls the lever forward. And I don't see how the handle comes away from the lock bit so that it can be replaced and not the whole barrel ... Any ideas?
That will be a replacement handle, you can remove the barrel and fit to a new handle so you keep the same key.
I'm having trouble getting the barrel out of the lock - is there a knack to it?
You will need to remove the paddle etc, note how it comes apart, it is spring loaded so careful when removing the horseshoe clip not to loose the bits.
Once the paddles out insert the key and turn 90Ã,° anticlockwise and pull the key complete with the barrel.
Got a complete new handle inc barrel and two keys for €12 from ebay. The paddle was 20mm too long but I took the chance given the cheap price. A few minutes with the angle grinder and it fitted perfectly 😊
