Title: Parking sensors
Post by: wazevan on March 21, 2014, 07:51:01 PM
Hi all,
Brill site already used it to do some odd jobs on car and saved a few quid.
My parking sensors in the last week have decided not to work,
When I go into reverse or turn on parking sensors by switch ,I get a constant beeeeep followed by flashing button.
I have checked front and back sensors for loose wires ,marks on sensors non,. water under the passenger seat all dry. They started working yesterday and now there playing up again.Im trying to determine if is front or back sensors the speaker making the warning noise is the back one.Any ideas .Is it possible to turn them off permantly (fuse).Althrough I want them to work.
Thanks

I meant no water under passenger seat.I have blasted all wires with WD40.Not sure if that has helped or hindered.

You can use VCDS/Vagcom to interrogate the park assist module this will tell you which sensor is not responding, it's a very useful tool to have if you DIY

Cheers,
Ill take round garage by me .Mate got charged to Ã,£10 to find a abs fault.
I just wondered if it was back sensors as the noise is from back.

No it just uses the rear sounder for the fault tone, have you done the tick test?

I did say you can get one of these leads (under a Ã,£10) see Here (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VAG-GROUP-USB-COM-PORT-OBD2-II-KKL-ECU-DIAGNOSTIC-CABLE-LEAD-WORK-VCDS-LITE-409-/271036790042?pt=UK_Diagnostic_Tools_Equipment&hash=item3f1b0d351a)

You don't need to register the software for the majority of DIY jobs

Cheers all,
Got to be  a wire.It works fine when car first starts then it plays up.The noise is now constant as if something on the sensor (when button or reverse engaged)I m going to take fuse out as it now annoying. As for buying the leads, there seems to mixed reviews. But for less than a 10 quid I give ones of these ago.Has anybody had an experience with the leads (VCDS/Vagcom).

Don't worry that the Galaxy is not on the list of vehicles, just be sure the lead is compatible with your operating system, XP, windows7 etc.
