hi, looking for a bit of advice, my climate control doesnt get hot, only warm ive noticed the temp gauge doesnt work are the connected?
should the vents blow hard like on a normal car heater blower? it sounds to be blowing when i turn the fan up but nothing but a bit of a breeze out of the vents and is the vent to the rear of the hand brake part of the heater cos i get nothing at all out of that
thanks in advance for any help
How is the coolant level in the expansion tank? If the temperature gauge isn't working either there is a good chance the faults are connected, does the gauge not move at all, or does the vehicle only do short journeys? If so the engine may never get warm enough to move the temperature gauge or for the blowers to blow hot air.
It moved a bit tonight but not far, I have a vw bora with the ajm engine which I am told is basically the same engine and normal running temp is 90 degrees I assume the galaxy will be the same but it didn't get up to 90 degrees I left it ticking over earlier for a bout 45mins and it didnt move at all
does the booster heater work?is the run on pump working as it should?
If it's just left ticking over the TDI will never get the temperature gauge up to 90 degrees, with the additional (rear) heater box in the back of the car the coolant circuit is pretty big in the Galaxy so takes a fair bit of warming up, that's why they fitted the booster heater as standard on the diesel Galaxies/Sharans/Alhambras, to improve warm up time- though non functioning booster heaters are legend on all of them! Best bet in my opinion is to take the vehicle out for a decent drive on the open road for half an hour or so and see if the gauge rises up to 90 degrees, if it still doesn't then yes something is wrong. Is the coolant level ok?
Will check coolant tomorrow, where is the booster heater
The booster is under the vehicle in the passenger rear door area, them not working is a common fault (https://www.fordmpv.com/smf2/ford-galaxy-reference-library/galaxy-mk2-auxiliary-booster-heater-guide/), however if the outside air temperature is above approx. 10 degrees C the booster will not run anyway. A working booster will speed up warm up time in colder weather but not otherwise, I would still recommend you take it for a decent run and see if it comes up to temperature.
