Hi all, im new here,
just got a 51 plate 1.9tdi and im having a problem with the central locking, the 2 button key doesnt work but i will sort that out with a locksmith. i can open all the door if i use the key in the passenger door lock and boot lock eccept the drivers door, if i use the key in the drivers lock it only opens the drivers door, if i use the cenral locking button on the door control panal the central locking will lock and unlock all doors including drivers, as anyone else had this problem an know how to fix it?
also engine code is AUY is this a pd engine same as the AJM?
Thanks for any advise
Sounds very much like door wiring issues, the wiring can break within the door gaiter. Its also possibly a defective barrel switch but thats less likely.
AUY is a PD engine with 115BHP.
AJM is a PD engine with 114BHP
Technically, AJM was never fitted to the Galaxy, instead the Galaxy came with either AUY or AUY1 engines. (AUY1 being the successor) The only difference being the torque output - both variants put out 115bhp but the AUY is 282Nm where the AUY1 is 310Nm. This is virtually identical to the AUY and AJM variations and its probable that they are one and the same.

as mirez has said, and i would add 1 possible for the key,
https://www.fordmpv.com/smf2/ford-galaxy-reference-library/ford-galaxy-remote-key-locking-programming-and-information-%28mk2%29/
this is found in our reference library where you will find lots more info on keys/locks in general, plus lots of other stuff.
wouldnt a broken wire also cause the central locking button not to unlock the drivers door?
tried the key programing but it did not work the led in the rivers door doesnt light up
yes very much so,but i posted the link because in your op you mentioned a locksmith,so armed with the info that is in the library you can see if it saves you some dosh.
I have pulled my key apart and there is no chip inside it looks like the previous owner lost it, if I get a second hand key off ebay can I put the chip in my key and reprogramme it following the instructions in the link
oh dear that isnt good news,if the key starts the car then i would suggest the chip has been glued to around the ignition system somewhere.
you can buy the chip but this is where your problems will start to get expensive.
iirc you need 2 working keys to code a new 1,as the chip is programed to the pats system.
you can either go to fords direct to program the chip/key or a auto locksmith.
The key starts it but it cut out straigh away, only the normal key without the buttons will start it
ok well that means the chip as you say has been lost.are these the only 2 keys you have, sometimes if your lucky you may still have a black plastic emergency key,if so then iirc you can reprogram your remote key once you have bought a new chip?
other wise its a visit to a auto locksmith or the dealers.
