Ok I'm after some advice, I have been to 3 garages including Fords and none of them can give me a definative answer to my problem.
About 12 months ago I was getting a smell of diesel come through my dash from my engine. A local garage did some work on the injector heads as they were leaking. The smell stopped but since the car isn't the same.
When you put your foot on the accelerator you can feel it missing (remember when we use to have spark plugs and one may get wet and would start to miss?).
I have no thrust in 1st gear and it is very sluggish, for a 1.8 it feels like a 1.4, if I am on a steep hill it hardly goes up with any power.
I did have some coding come back form a test and it points towards "glow plugs" but I have since been told this wouldn't effect the running of it once started. DTC Code P0380
I have also been told my airbags have been deactivated (must have been like this when I purchased it) and have been given other codes to look at B10A2 and U10A2 which I presume are linked to the air back fault.
Ford did a visual check a while back after I described the problems and they suspected a "dual mass flywheel fail"
Every garage is coming up with different ideas....................any advice (apart from flogging the car!)
Thanks
Paul
Hi Paul and welcome along! Firstly, can you clarify the engine and build year? The 1.8 TDCI is a MK3 (2006>) engine, yet this is in the Mk2 section so it should be a 1.9 TDI if so - not being picky but both very different engines! :) Also what kind of mileage is the car on?
Glow plugs being faulty/failed will effect starting and, to some degree, the first minute of running but nothing more then that.
Hi Paul welcome5
Yep A 1.8TDCI is the Ford Lynx engine fitted in the MK3 a MK2 will be a VW 1.9TDI
