Title: Power loss
Post by: alexk on February 18, 2014, 08:48:38 AM
Have recently replaced MAF with Bosch unit (expensive) and this totally restored power to the gal. However, gave just had the gearbox replaced and have immediately noticed slight loss if power again (sluggish to reach top revs). Is there anything that could have been knocked out of place during a gearbox change that could cause this?

Scan with VCDS lite to check for any boost issues you may have, also worth having a look around boost pipework for leaks.

Also check the Vacuum reservoir and pipework is ok as its right above the gearbox on the Mk1 (Behind the coolant bottle)

Thanks! Checked the pipes and one was completely off and the others had frayed ends and were leaking. Have full power again :-))
