hi I have a 2002 galaxy, I woke up and the brake lights where on, I have changed the switch and its still on, I do not have cruise control and I have taken the bulbs out and the top brake light is still on, someone pls help me as I was told too change the whole fuse box inside the car, but if that was the problem why does everything else work fine.
Sounds like a wiring short- the wiring into the tailgate is prone to damage (breaking wires/ rubbing through insulation with the constant flexing caused by the tailgate being opened and closed) in the vicinity of the rubber gaiter where the wiring passes from the body to the tailgate. There are two gaiters at the top of the tailgate- one for the wiring, the other for the rear washer pipe, check the wiring around here for damage.
I can attest to that!!!

Had that fixed a year ago, by a electrition in wimbaldon, do you think it can be that, last time it would constantly blow a fuse and I could not get the car out of park, now I can get it out of park but can't get the brake lights off.
It depends on what he repaired/replaced. Most will repair what's broken at the time where as they should solder in replacement wiring for all of them.
Realistically it can only be either a short or the switch on the pedal is broken. Since you've changed the switch I'd say its the wiring - you might be able to get them to turn off (at least temporarily) by wiggling the wiring.
I have allied the aa and they could not fix it too but he did tell me the wire that connects too the brake switch, was tested and it is giving both as live when one should be negative.
Im with the others ,prety much guarantee tailgate wiring
As said tailgate wiring faults are very common, if you want to confirm this below the O/S rear lamp cluster there are three multiplug sockets if you unplug these then recheck for voltage at the stop lamp switch which you checked before only one wire should be live.
I had a problem on my galaxy with interior lights staying on for a couple of months I was looking for the problem I finally found a part of the wiring loom going to the interior light above the middle row of seats this loom had already been repaired and taped up with insulation tape when I pulled the loom out form the roof lining it was all sticky my assumption is that over time with the heaters on in the cab area the insulation tape had broken down and caused the sticky part of the tape to seep out causing it to make a conduct kind of thing is it possible when your wiring was repaired it was taped up with insulation tape because when I cleaned mine up and retaped them separately everything was fine after that
Help nothing's working, I am so confused, I keep getting ripped off
When mine were stuck on it was also the tailgate wiring. Cost Ã,£120 for an auto electrician to do. He was here for almost 3 hours and replaced the whole lot
