Title: mfd and cd's
Post by: bigdave982 on February 08, 2014, 02:41:21 PM
So ive been toying with fitting the mfd in the gal
Got the surround and switches coming, bought the head unit ,supposedly with disc and a code
Now reading up on it i see it reported these dont play cds ,presumably they use a changer (doh)!!!!!

Is this correct ?

If so this is no good to me so its likely itll all be for sale soon!

By the looks of it the Bosch sat nav unit serves only as a control unit for the separate CD changer unfortunately, seems a bit odd that it can read the navigation disc but not an audio CD!

Correct, it can't play audio cd's and is purely for the mapping.

Why can't you use a changer? As an alternative, you could use an MP3 SD-Card Emulator. This is what I used to have and basically mimics a CD Changer for the MFD but plays MP3's from an SD card instead. Much smaller then a changer and more in-keeping with the digital era!

Here's a link, I bought mine 2nd hand for a fraction of that price but it gives the idea:
