Hi I have a problem with my Ford galaxy mk2 2002 ghia. There is a clicking coming from the module by the fuse box in on the drivers side by the fuses. The interior lights are flashing dimly and quickly. The car will not lock properly with either the key or the remote. The car will start and run. However when the clicking is there the indicators do not work.
I have checked the fuse box in the engine compartment, cleaned all contacts all ok.
Also have had the drivers door card off and wiring loom out. checked all the cables for continuity all ok. several wires with cuts in taped up.
Could someone help please.
have you checked all 3 layers of the fuse box?
I have pulled all the relays out and put them back in after looking at the contacts yes.
Check the condition of the battery fuse box for signs of melting also check the first blade fuse think its a 5 amp
Sorry but as stated in the post I have checked and cleaned all contacts and fuses in the fuse box in the engine compartment. Is it possible that the module think it is call a GEM module is faulty. Is there anyway to test this.
Also whilst this box is clicking cannot communicate with the modules using either the vag cable and vcds or another autel device. Any suggestions would be great. thanks
It could be the GEM module itself or it could be a power supply problem caused by a wiring issue or a duff relay, if it's clicking that does sound like there could be an issue with a relay. I'm not experienced enough with Galaxy electrics to be able to expand any further though.
GEM board has been known to cause problems but I would eliminate all other possibilities first, drivers door gaiter wiring which you say you have checked.
It's still worth checking the other doors in particular the tailgate as this is a common problem.
Does the clicking only occur with ignition on
When you say VCDS will not connect when clicking does the lead loose it's power supply (pin 16 diagnostic socket)
I have removed the plugs for each of the doors except the drivers door. The tailgate I have looked at seems ok, but may need to look at further. The clicking happens when you open the drivers door or when the ignition is on an drivers door closed.
The clicking is still there with the 3 other door plugs removed.
Not checked the supply to the test socket. But will check when I get a chance.
If you unplug the drivers door does it stop? It has all the hallmarks of a wiring short tbh. I would wait until it starts the clicking and then massage the rubber wiring grommet in the tailgate (get the right side as one is the water feed) and the drivers door. See if you can get it to click faster, slower or stop entirely.
And if no problems with wiring in the door gators or the tailgate gator
Then check the wiring loom connected to the interior light above the middle row of seats as this was the culprit on my galaxy spent over two months looking for the problem but found out by accident a couple of weeks ago the wiring on mine had been renewed with different coloured wire so obviously this area must be a problem at some time
