Having done a service on the car and finding numerous bolts and bits missing as it was completed (always the way in my case when we get a new car) I came across something that was a little worrying whilst changing the cabin filter.
If your stood in front of the car and the cabin filter pulls out towards the left there is a connector that plugs in upwards near the wiper mechanism. Does anyone know what this is for as when I found it there wasn't alot left of it. The plastic outer sheath was nowhere to be seen and the copper strands were barely connected and hanging on for dear life.
I traced the wiring back to where it was still in tact and chopped it off, soldered new wiring in and connected the plug back up. Have had no negative effect but just curious as to what this is.
My thinking is that the wipers had been chafing the wiring when in use and destroyed the cabling.

There are three connectors in that location, the biggest is the wiper motor itself with about 6 wires going in. Then there is a two pin connector for the alarm horn and finally, if you have a diesel, another two pin connector for the aux heaters external temperature sensor.

it was a plug that had 2 wires going in to it. I had presumed it was to do with the alarm.
I am surprised it worked seeing as there were literally only a few copper strands holding it together. Im hoping my soldering a new section of cable where it was damaged shouldn't affect the alarm/immobiliser etc??.
