I have just recently got a second hand one with no code.
Is the serial number on these units 7 digits long just above the bar code?,because i have tried a friend and the code didn't work from his ford code calc
Kind Regards
Darren
The MFD1 is a VW navigation unit made by Blaupunkt (and then re-badged for Ford). Its not part of the "M" or "L" series radio's like the 6000CD etc so the Ford code generator won't work on it. I've never seen a calculator that works for the MFD units and a word of warning is that you don't wanna try to many times because its much harder to get it back out of "SAFE" mode!!!
Thanks for the information I won't try another just in case.
Would the ford dealer be any use either?
In my experience with them no, they've always wanted to see V5's and other such documents to prove you own the car - since its not in the original car they won't want to know. There are a few sites online that claim to be able to unlock the MFD1 - might be worth an email to see.
Update
I tried a website for the radio code and they emailed back with 2 different codes for it.
I'm pleased to say that the first one worked fine and all they ask was a small donation for the trouble.
Excellent, post a link up as sounds like good service.
This was the site I used for my MFD1 radio, once I got my code and it worked all they asked for was a donation.
