That sounds very much like a dodgy relay (109) next time you have trouble starting the car look a the small LED light on the drivers door see if it is on or flashing.
Below is a link to help access the relays

hi chris ! ty for reply . once ive got to relay 109 wht do i do ? do i take it out and replce this ? thanks buddy ;) ;) ;) ;) ;)
That relay suffers with bad solder joints, if your handy with a soldering iron it can be a quick fix, if not a new ones about Ã,£15 from a VW dealer part number is 1J 0906381A
hi Chris ! going to have to try scrap yards tomorrow as vw do not even stock them ! is there any other vehicles i can find the 109 relay on ? cheers
Plenty on Ebay

hi chris . changed the 109 relay and its still doing the same thing :( i noticed when i was revving it high the led light was flashing on the door but the car would cut out and then be very difficult to start , any more ideas please ? thank you carlos
Have you checked for fault codes using Vagcom/VCDS
Does the light on the door flash when trying to start the car
the diagnostic give no codes and sometimes the light does flash whilst trying to start
The light flashing means there is a problem, it should glow solid for a few seconds then go out.
Immobilizer active can cause this, have you tried using a different key as there may be a problem with the chip in the key.
If there's no power to the engine ecu it will also flash, the ecu is powered by the relay 109 which is what I first suspected as it has been a known issue with solder joints inside, assuming it was a new one you fitted.
What diagnostic scanner did you use as generic scanner only scans the engine ecu
i dont know what the mechanic used to check , at the moment im using the spare key . the mechanic seems to think its the fuel pump , i dont know , its an headache for me as i use it for work , could it be the fuel pump ?
it ticks over normal standing idle . just cuts out though when moving after a short period of time , very frustrating .
