Hi everyone! Can anyone tell me how to replace the indicator bulb on the passenger side? My hubby removed the battery and the back of the headlight but you cant get to the indicator?
welcome5
In the wheel arch liner there is a slide down flap this gives access to the indicator and side light bulb, albeit the side light bulb more difficult.
Turn the wheel full lock to the drivers side first as the designer of that flap clearly had tiny long arms!
Thanks boys we are going to do it now!!!
ok we are done but hubby has a lot of scratches lol
I have been told off because I also have a number plate light, fog light and the top brake light not working. He is doing the number plate light now but can you tell me how we get to the front fog light to change that and also what type of bulb the top brake light is pls?
the high level brake light are LED, as you have no number plate light also it's possible you have broken wiring in the tailgate gaiter.
The front fog lights can be accessed from underneath after removing undercover although left hand side is more difficult
high level brake light may well be a wiring problem within the unit itself?
have read somewhere this is a known issue,
if its like my smax then you have to gently remove the plastic trim on the hatch to get to it,it is rather tight in there.
mine went and i robbed the bulb from the wifes smax but the bulb blew straight away,so with mine i have a wiring issue somewhere.
Ok so we have done the number plate lights and the front fog light. Where do we get led's from?
LED's are soldered to a PCB in a strip - they are not really user replaceable unless you are experiences with a soldering iron!
However its highly unlikely they have failed and much more likely the wiring has degraded in the gaitor.
unless the galaxy is totally different to the smax, then iirc its a blade type bulb that is needed for the high level brake light.
She's got the equivalent of a Mk2 Galaxy mate which is LED. The S-Max and Mk3 Galaxy are indeed wedge bulbs.
oh dear :-[ theres me thinking the op had a mk3 as its a 07.
VW kept the Sharan and Alhambra right up to 2010 I believe mate, pretty much as is from the last facelift in 2004 - Much later then Ford replaced the Galaxy.
yeah i realize that now m8,kick me while im down. :)
ok I should have listened to you lol we got a replacement led bar from taronis breakers for Ã,£15 but its not made any difference. how do we go about replacing the wiring or can it be repaired?
You can repair it if you have a soldering iron and some basic electrical skills. If you've not done anything like this before it might be worth getting an auto electrician out as the wiring is tight so space for soldering is limited

Sorry to diverge slightly from topic here but the fact the Sharan and Alhambra were built in the same basic format until much more recently than the mk2 Galaxy (the last versions of which are running on '06 reg plates if I am correct) gives me hope that most mechanical items (if not cosmetic due to the slightly different bodystyles) will at least be available through VW for a while after Ford stops selling them!
Correct and correct - legally VW will have to "support" our version of the Sharan until 2020, although that only means you can order parts through them - not that they will be available :(
On the plus side though the Sharan is one of the best examples of parts bin raiding I've seen :) There arn't that many that were purpose built for just the Sharan with most coming from other VW and Audi group cars ;)
So it's 10 years from the last manufactured date that manufacturers legally have to support their vehicles with spares for is it? That gives the Galaxy until 2015/16 then for the mk2, though it's safe to say common service/mechanical parts Ford sell a lot of will be available for quite some time after that and some less common trim items etc are already obsolete- I went to try to buy the oblong plastic insert piece that sits next to the rear speaker grille on the offside rear door trim recently and I can't get it from Ford any more, hopefully I can get it from VW!
Not quite, they have to legally "support" the vehicle for 10 years from the last manufacturing date but nowhere is it really stated what "Support" entails. Its certainly not written in stone anywhere that they have to have a full compliment of spare parts available (although I wish it was!)
