Probably only applicable (if at all) for older high mileage engines.
Has anyone had any experience of additives which claim to halt or even reverse wear.

Hi hope this helps your self and other's trying to decide whether to use addertives or not , over the years I've always been a believer in using addertives in oil but just recently I've been doing a lot of research into whether they work or are a waste of money, and unfortunately I have come to the conclusion that I have been wasting my money, not only that but I may well have been doing more harm than good, briefly oil companies invest millions into getting the right balance of friction modifiers/anti wear properties/detergents and more to get the best quality they can, now the enthusiast is on balance, if you add to much of one particular substance it can upset that fine balance and make the oil react uncharacteristically with detrimental consequences (a bit like following a tried and tested cake recipe and deciding to add more sugar and a couple more eggs in the off chance it'll make a better cake, the end result could be disaster). So just use a good quality fully synthetic oil , which by the way has excellent cling quality's so no dry starts and change at the recommended intervals earlier if doing lots of stop start driving and there's no reason why your engine shouldn't keep going in good condition. By the way I'm not biased just now a bit wiser.

There's a product that can reverse wear on my engine? :o OMG that manufacturer must be a multi zillionair [HAHA]
On a serious note I'm with the above advice, oil manufacturers and engine developers spend millions on R&D, I don't believe in miracle products at all. Stick to a good quality oil & filter of the correct spec and change according to the service schedules.
