Hi all,
Trying to get this enabled and have bought the VAG cable I need from eBay, installed the drivers successfully (actually got some problems I've found - I'll post separately). I've had to dig a bit because the VAG Tacho software link doesn't work in the PDF but have got v2.2 elsewhere.
When I connect the cable up to the laptop and then the port in the car, all I get is a message at the top of the Vag Tacho window saying "USB to K-Line interface not found" - and the button I need to click is greyed out and I can't get the custer eeprom.
Has anyone else found this and if so how the heck do I make it work?
Cheers,
Jason
Sounds like the driver for the cable is missing, does it show up in windows device manager?
Apologies if you are already aware.
Did you get a VAG-TACHO cable or a VAG-COM/VCDS-LITE cable?
Are you aware that they are different and VAG-TACHO doesn't work with the VAG-COM/VCDS-LITE cable?
yes try a different version I had the same ship as that and changed the software, some cables work some don't ... try USB vagtacho version 2.50, that worked for me , there's vagtacho, and USB vagtacho
I managed to find the USB VAG Tacho v2.2 - wasn't the easiest to find but hopefully I got the right version. The cable does work with the VCDS Lite software but just refuses to be acknowledged in VAG Tacho. Can anyone point me in the direction of a better version to check? Maybe I have a cable which isn't supported.
See my earlier post. You need a different cable for VAG-TACHO to the one used fro VCDS-LITE.
One of these ---> http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_sacat=0&_from=R40&_nkw=vag-tacho&_sop=15 (http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_sacat=0&_from=R40&_nkw=vag-tacho&_sop=15)
Ah, no wonder I couldn't do it then :-)
Will get one ordered and try again ... keen to get DTE working.
Thanks for your help.
No problem.
It's not too difficult if you take it slowly and follow Mirez's instructions carefully. Just remember to keep a copy of the original dash download just in case something isn't right when you reprogram.
