The strap thingy that holds the fuel cap to the car has snapped off. I wouldn't worry but I've driven off twice now leaving it behind on the pump and had to go back so I need a replacement. Can anyone tell me the part number and where I get one from? Can I change just the strap?
have you tried the dealers?fords/vw/seat.
wouldve thought this happens quite often so wouldnt think it would be too hard to get hold off?
or try looking on ebay maybe.
Alicia is this for the Mk3 or Mk2? I have the part numbers for both the "Cap assembly" as VW claim you can't order the strap on its own for the Sharan / Galaxy. I've then got the part number for the strap from a Passat which is a direct fit :)
If its for your Mk3 then that's a go to Ford job.
Did the early Mk3 have a cap then as my 61 reg is capless or automatic
i take it chris you dont have a filler cap(so to speak)?,my missus 60 reg smax doesnt but my 08 smax does, strange aint it.
Don't know if there's a knack to getting the nozzle in but it does love to keep you waiting before it opens up :D
Reminds me of something else :)
AFAIK its Ford's easy fuel system so you can only use the right nozzle in the hole (oh-er) - again AFAIK, it became standard equipment on the whole Ford range around 59/10 plate.
