I've had 2 intermittent clocks on my Galaxy and loathe to buy another
as I dont drive it that much unless I'm off up country visiting so have patched in a
large poundshop watch which to be fair keeps pretty good time.

Symptoms:
Time waay off, so reset proper time and for day or two or three its fine then goes wonky again
Bought another from Ebay and it happened again!

Q:
Are all Galaxy clocks prone to being a PITA or was I just unlucky?

Yes itââ,¬â,,¢s a common thing with the analogue clock,Ford KA one fits in and is supposed to be more reliable from what I have read

Mine used to randomly run backwards. Replaced it with a for Ka one which fitted and plugged straight in. Has been working perfectly for over a year and it has a white face so easier to see. Cost around Ã,£6 on Ebay.
I'd rather be on Orkney!

OK thanks
I've ordered a 2nd hand Ka one for Ã,£9
Hope its 3rd time lucky

Sounds like a terrible fault. I used to have a Saab 9-5 which back in 1998 would have the clock synchronised to the time radio signal so that it was always accurate to the second. This sort of gadgetry costs pennies, mere pennies, so Iââ,¬â,,¢m surprised itââ,¬â,,¢s not standard these days.

In my Alhamb I have a Kenwood DAB radio which always shows the correct time but the clock on the dashboard seems to keep time ok anyhow
I drive a Seat Alhambra 1.9Tdi which has 115bhp and an automatic gearbox.

I am happy to help you with all your questions. I am not a qualified mechanic but seem to be better at fixing my car than even the most experienced garages.

I have lots of friends here and very much enjoy talking with you all. Always remember, a motor car is a serious tool and should be treated with respect. Put your safety first, always.

Update:
I fitted the Ka clock a couple of weeks ago and so far so good, its keeping pretty good time

Sounds like a nice little improvement to the car

Hey, I know this is an old topic but I would like to add my recent experience with this problem. My clock was also losing time for months now in my 03 galaxy. I decided now to take it apart and I looked under the microscope. What I found was that the four solder connections of the white plastic clock unit itself on the pcb were cracked. I then removed the old solder and I made nice new shiny solder joints. The clock is now working fine again since the repair which is now two weeks ago.

I hope it can help others!
I own a MK1 1999 2.3 DOHC Ghia & 2003 1.9TDI Trend.

A very useful tip, thank you for sharing!

Just add to this old thread
I see I fitted the Ka clock in June 2019
It is now Nov 2022 and it's still working fine.

Fitted mine sometime in 2017 and its still working now (Ka clock again as I prefer the lighter clock face on that one, mine was working when removed)
