Hi everyone! Does anybody know the maximum weight you can safely put on the roof racks on a 2006 Alhamb please? Would really be handy if I can stick a sofa on top of it, but I'm keen not to crumple the car in the process. Also, do you know how tight you can safely to ratchet straps without bending the roof bars? Thank you!
I drive a Seat Alhambra 1.9Tdi which has 115bhp and an automatic gearbox.

I am happy to help you with all your questions. I am not a qualified mechanic but seem to be better at fixing my car than even the most experienced garages.

I seem to recall it being a 70kg weight limit for the roof.

Thank you.. that would also explain perhaps why roof boxes aren't as big as I'd like them! I wonder if the sofa is under 70kg... it might just be do-able. The main thing I guess would be ensuring that I don't brake too hard or that wind resistance doesn't add to that 70kg effective weight. Thank you!
