hi folks, trying to fit an aftermarket stereo to my 59 Galaxy.
bought the ISO adaptor thing from Halford's , they eventually gave me the correct one at the 3rd time of trying, apparently i didn't tell them it was a quadlock!
anyway i've been trying to work it out but there doesn't seem to be anywhere on this site or the rest of the internet that specifically tells me which socket in the connector to connect the red 'switched live' cable to.
can anybody help me please?!!!!

Pin 16 of main plug if it's switched live in.

Impressive bit of wiring knowledge there
I drive a Seat Alhambra 1.9Tdi which has 115bhp and an automatic gearbox.

I am happy to help you with all your questions. I am not a qualified mechanic but seem to be better at fixing my car than even the most experienced garages.

I have lots of friends here and very much enjoy talking with you all. Always remember, a motor car is a serious tool and should be treated with respect. Put your safety first, always.

so the one with they yellow arrow

so connected switched live to slot 16 but still no joy because the unit just stays on.
worked it out though, it appears as if I have the canbus quadlock wiring loom and not the standard quadlock wiring.
which means i still have the wrong harness from Halfords!!!
all i want is bluetooth in the car!

i reckon the easiest (read cheapest!) way is to just piggyback fuse the switched live direct from the fuse box.

Can you do that for turning dash cams on automatically too

As you have canbus car side the switched side is can bus controlled rather than a traditional accessory power supply.
If you need switched live then you will have to tap off something else or piggy back fuse holder in a switched fuse to pin 16

finally got this working today so very pleased with myself.
i'm no mechanic but i'm sharing my experience because it actually wasn't that difficult in the end and i'm sure there are other people who might be considering this but just need a nudge of confidence - especially if they want bluetooth/hands free!fuse.pNGconnectors.png

i bought the piggyback fuse holder from halfrauds (only for convenience!) they call it 'add a fuse', see pic attached, it was £8, they are half that on ebay.

you can buy them in 'normal' size or 'mini' size, obviously depends which fuse you are going to piggyback them off as to which one you need.

i had some wire and connectors from old stereo's, so it was pretty easy to run a cable from the switched live slot of my stereo to the 'add a fuse' thing. (pics of connectors from Halfrauds if you need them)

there was no fuse at all in slot 16 (i don't have fog lights on mine and it looks like that what fuse 16 is for) so i had to piggyback it off slot 2 with the electric windows instead. any switched live will do.

so i put the 'add a fuse' thing into slot 2, dropped a new 10A fuse into it and put the 10A fuse i took out of slot 2 alongside it, so i now have 2 fuses going into slot 2.

then connected it all up and hey presto it works.

so i now have a bluetooth stereo in my car that works, and as a bonus the alexa car thing my wife bought me for xmas also works with it when i connect it to my phone.

so i don't have to faff around fitting a microphone to the back of the stereo and can enjoy complete hands free music/telephone in the car - at long frigging last!!!!
